Most Mini's come from Japan

Mini Excavators have declined in retail sales over the past couple of years in North America, but the percentage of Japanese manufactured product hasn't. Power Products Marketing reports that 70% of all Mini Excavators sold in North America originated from a plant in Japan. This has been very consistent since 2005 when the number originally bumped up over the 70% mark. Kubota is the sales leader for Mini Ex's in North America since 2006 (when they over took Bobcat for this spot) and they surely help drive the 70% number up, but it's not just the Japanese OEMs that produce Mini's in Japan. Brands well known in the U.S. contribute to this high volume, such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Ditch Witch, CASE, New Holland and even Thomas have Mini Excavators produced in Japan. If not for Bobcat the U.S. would have almost no Mini Excavators manufactured here. Power Products Marketing is a market research firm which provides detailed industry sales by make and model for the Construction Equipment, Farm Machinery, Powersports, and Lawn & Garden Markets around the world.
